Church Counseling
Church Counseling
For a number of years, it has been Pastor Larry's desire to have a ministry that would help the hurting and wounded receive help on their journey to health and wholeness in Christ.
Church Counseling was developed out of that desire.
Church Counselors are paraprofessionals (not licensed or professional therapists) who have received extensive training in the skills of listening, clarifying and goal-setting. Through prayerful submission to the leading of God, we offer a Biblically- based response to personal, marital or family needs.
Our goal.......
2 Cor. 5:17-20
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ. He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore, Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.
Our goal is to help in the reconciliation process between our counselee and the Lord, between the counselee and others in their lives.
How to go about scheduling an appointment with a counselor.....
The easiest way to schedule an appointment is to fill out the connection card attached to the Sunday Bulletin and mark, "please have a counselor contact me". Your request will be confidential. A counselor will make the initial contact-using which ever mode of communication you chose on the connection card. An appointment can also be made by calling the church to request an appointment. Or fill out a request (CLICK HERE).
What type of counseling are you looking for- personal, marital, family......
Once the counselor knows what type of counseling you are requesting, a counselor will be prayerfully assigned to you. The counselor will contact you to set up an appointment, generally within 24-36 hours. The contact will be made through what ever mode you decide-phone or email -and will remain the method of contact until you change it.
This is a big church, will anyone else know my business????
Confidentiality is a high value in church counseling at Granite Creek. We intentionally do not disclose who the counselors are so that they are free to fellowship in the church without the worry of being seen talking with a counselee. The identity of Counselees is never divulged- nor are their situations talked about anonymously- even with other counselors. To protect the counselee, counseling is only done during a session, not before or after church or any other church gathering.
What else should I know about counseling????
Your counselor will ask you to come in 20 mins. before your first appointment so you can fill out some paperwork. The sessions are 50 mins.
The cost is $35.00. We realize that we are in economically challenging times; no one will be turned away because of the inability to pay. If you are unable to pay the full amount, please let us know.
The counseling sessions are done at the church. Questions or more info, click here to email us.
